Damian and Maxie

Love this boy xoxo

Damian had his teacher conference yesterday for the first time this year. He still is the top reader in his class reading 74 wpm! He should be reading 95 wpm by the end of 2nd grade. His strength is obviously not in comprehension as we already knew. Damian can't get his words or ideas down on paper. I think it's due to his auditory disorder and it's hard for him toprocess too much information.

His speech teacher Erin came in and she told me she works with these visual tools to help him break down a story. She made a huge pile of copies for me so we can do it at home during reading! She's been so great and both of these teachers want what's best for him I can tell.

We're going to hold off on RSP services for him right now and see if this will help. He's already out of class for speech, O.T. and then he goes to a strategic challenge class as well. Because his reading is so well his teacher wanted to challenge him but honestly I think it's frustrating him right now. We may leave that class behind.

He had a physical as well at his doctor's. Everything looks well medically but just some other issues we need to work on that I don't want to get into now because I have to go to WW and I don't want to!!! Oh! Plus he has flat feet and that's why his feet were turning inwards! Nothing to worry she said. I'm so glad we have the best doctors and teachers on our side!

Then there's my little firecracker. Mila's catching up though. That's a whole nother blog! Max has an evaluation at Jabbergym in Roseville in the beginning of December so we can finally get this process over with. His language is so good except when he's trying to tell you something fast. His tantrums are getting less frequent but he still has some issues with the touch aspect so we'll see! Advocate for your children because no one else will!!
