my baby ain't no baby

My first born bundle of joy is 17 today.

This is a special birthday for me because he is the same age I was when I had him.

Most people know what Eric and I went through the first years of his life. It had alot of downs but the up's were there just as much.

I had a couple of moments in his early years where I would lay with him in my arms, either in the recliner or on top of the counter with the water running wondering if he would ever be out of pain. Wondering why he had to be suffering and why I couldn't instead.

I took on alot in regards to his health issues and allergies. I believe it made him stronger and me as well. He was brought into my life for a reason and sometimes I wonder why God knew I could handle it. Sometimes I thought I couldn't go one more day watching him suffer.

But today, 17 years later, he is a strong, stubborn, handsome , respectful and loving young man. I think Troy and I did our best that we could and it shows. We are so proud of him and the path he chose.

He has his moments like every big brother and he has his moments as a teenager but I couldn't ask for a better well mannered and smart child.

Love you baby!!!

Marisa,
I cannot tell you how proud I am of you for taking such loving care of Eric at such a young age of 17. It is still amazing to me what the two of you went through and for the outcome your lives have taken. You and Troy continue to be brave and hard-working in your goal of raising the best family you can. You two are awesome. I am always proud.
God bless you all.
