We survived the first day!

Today was the first day of Kindergarten, 2nd and 5th grade. Max was the first to go because their school had a funky start time for the primary grades. Damian and Brandon were quite jealous they couldn’t leave early like Max did.

Max has been talking about school for sooo long and he was a little drowsy getting up but so excited.

I had Eric listen for Mila so Troy and I could take Max ourselves and make it HIS day. Because we all know Miss Mila would cry and whine that she couldn’t stay with him.

Daddy saying good-bye.

Max has the best teacher I could have asked for. She knows and adores Damian and is in the loop with how I feel about Max adjusting and such. She will be working closely with Max’s speech therapist since he on a consult only. I am glad he will be out of Special Ed. but it’s still a worry to us how he will do.

I of course bawled when I got home and quickly ran outside in the backyard to hear him playing and calling a kid “dude”. Typical Maxie. My Mom came over so we could both walk down and get him and he said he had fun but wants to stay home now. Ha.

Damian and Max had a great first day too. Damian is still upset his friend he played with every day has gone to another school. This is real hard for him and us to see him upset. It’s hard socially for him and to make friends is a HUGE milestone and keeping them is even bigger. He will be okay I know but it will take a little bit. He has his aide with him which is helping and she can help at recess.

Brandon. Well he just does great anyways. Got high fives when he walked up to his line and was obviously missed. He’s starting soccer this year and after talking to parents sounds like he just may have some classmates on his team which will be nice.

So a good start to a new school year. We have been following a tight schedule around the house and it is certainly helping now that school has started.
