boy I'm gonna be busy...

Now that the school year has started, it means it's Max's therapy sessions as well. He'll start his speech back up in August weekly and now his O.T sessions are weekly as well. We've gone a few times with this new therapist and she is outstanding. She told me right away she could tell I would do the "diet" at home and listen to what Max needs.

Yes I have received ADVOCATE OF THE YEAR quite a bit!

Now PATIENT advocate is another story.

Max will benefit from receiving sensory diet activities throughout the day in order to meet his sensory needs in a more effective manner. He needs to be provided with 1 activity from each category hourly throughtout the day. I have a timer to remind us!

He will do one activity from Alerting activities for example:

-Outside swinging
-Spin and stop, spin and stop and so on
-Bouncing on a therapy ball
-crunching dry cereal, popcorn, chips, etc

One from Organizing activities:

-CLimbing outside play structure
-Crab walk
-Wheelbarrow walk
-Pushing or pulling loads

One from Calming activities:

-cuddling with pillows in a quiet dark place
-Making kid burritos with a blanet, his fave!
-deep pressure massages, hugs, another fave
-"heavy work" carrying heavy things

I do calming techniques daily to help his temper or outburts. It really makes him focus on me and the deep pressure he really craves.

Unlike Damian who is a seeker avoider! It's funny when I do both of their O.T. activities and they react differently or require opposite therapy.

The boys are doing great in school and have really amazed us. I miss the old teachers dearly and I know he does as well. But I have developed good communication with the new ones and I think that will help us all along the way.

xoxo
